History / Summary

Biographical note: Served with the 23rd Battalion, AIF. State school teacher and student for Holy Orders; of Laidley, Queensland; born Kalk Bay, near Cape Town, South Africa, came to Australia when 8 years old; educated at state school and also privately; was a boy scout; joined AIF 13 August 1915, became a sapper in 6 Field Company Engineers, afterwards gaining a commission in the infantry; was wounded at Bullecourt in May 1917; killed in action at Broodseinde, 4 October 1917, aged 21 years 6 months.
