Collection includes photostat copy of a commemorative book titled "In ever loving memory of Captain Cecil Maitland Foss, M.C., 28th Battalion and Lieut. History / Summary

This collection reflects the Foss family's pride in the achievements of their sons, Cecil and Henry, and grief at their deaths while on active service.

Biographical note: Captain Cecil Maitland Foss, farmer of Batakino, Western Australia; born Arrino, Western Australia; educated at High School, Perth; age at time of death, 25. He organized and led the first Australian raiding party in France - June 1916. Lieutenant Henry Clinton Foss, farmer of Western Australia; born Perth, Western Australia; educated at Perth Boys' School; age at time of death, 28. He had transferred from 10th Light Horse Regiment to the 28th Battalion.
