Description

Collection relating to the service of Lieutenant (Lt) Russell Walker Grant, 25 Battalion, AIF, France. Collection includes five original letters written by Lt Grant to family members in Australia between May 1916 and November 1916, and a small photograph taken on board the SS Mooltan in May 1916. Lt Grant was killed in action in France on 15 November 1916.

Biographical note: Lieutenant Russell Walker Grant, 25 Battalion, who on 15 November 1916 was killed in action at Flers. Other biographical details concerning him are: warehouseman of Windsor, Qld, born Brisbane, educated at Valley State School, Brisbane Grammar School, and Melbourne University (Trinity College); joined the AIF on 4 September 1915; age at time of death 38.
