Biographical note: Captain George Meysey Hammond, MC and Bar, MM, 28 Battalion, AIF, who died on 14 June 1918 of wounds received at Morlancourt. Other biographical details concerning him are: Employed in Government offices, Broome, Western Australia, before the war; of Broome and Perth, age at time of death 25, born Handsworth, Staffordshire, England; came to Australia when 18 years old, educated at Handsworth school and at Pershore, Worcestershire, England.
