Collection relating to the service of Lieutenant Charles Henry Alexander, 9 Light Trench Mortar Battery, Sydney and Newcastle, NSW, England and France, 14 June 1915-15 May 1917. Collection comprises typewritten copies of letters to his mother describing officer training in Australia and England and service in France. Typewritten copies made by Australia House, London, at Memorial's request. Bound into file covers. Location of originals unknown.
Biographical note: Lieutenant Charles Henry Alexander, 9 Australian Light Trench Mortar Battery, AIF. Killed in action, Belgium, 8 June 1917. Age 33. Born Dublin. Son of David McGowan Alexander and Emily Frances Alexander of 71 Frankfort Avenue, Dublin, Ireland.
