Collection relating to the service of Stoker William James Jarvis, HMAS Melbourne, RAN, 1914-1917, Australia, South Pacific, Caribbean, Cuba, North Sea (Scapa Flow). Collection contains original diary with brief daily entries from March 1914 to January 1917, mostly detailing operationally activities of HMAS Melbourne. Collection also contains a hand-drawn sketch entitled 'Plan of action off Cocos Island between HMAS Sydney and SMS Emden'.
