Collection relating to the service of 1918 Sergeant Francis James Kellaway, 36 Battalion AIF, England & France, 1916-1918, and of 3174 Private George Gordon Byron Kellaway, 53 Battalion AIF, France, 1917. Collection consists of photostat copies of four letters written by Sergeant Francis Kellaway, and a photostat copy of one letter written by Private George Kellaway, to family members in Australia. Location of original letters unknown.
Biographical note: 1918 Sergeant Francis James Kellaway, 36 Battalion, AIF, who, during a raid on the German line in the Messines sector on 3 March 1918, was killed in action. Other biographical details concerning him are as follows: pipe fitter of Waratah, NSW; born at Callington, SA; educated at a state school; enlisted in the AIF on 17 April 1916; age at time of death, 25 years.
Biographical note: 3174 Private George Gordon Byron Kellaway, 53 Battalion, AIF, who, on 10 May 1917, was killed in action in the Bullecourt sector. Other biographical details concerning him are as follows: engine driver, of Waratah, NSW; born Burra, SA; educated at a state school; enlisted in the AIF on 4 October 1916.
