Collection relating to the service of Lieutenant John Hattam McLennan, 5 Battalion & 35 Battalion, Egypt and Gallipoli, 1915. Collection consists of a typescript copy of a diary kept by Lieutenant (then Sergeant) McLennan from 8 April 1915 to 12 August 1915. Typescript copy made by Australian War Memorial. Location of original unknown.
This collection gives a very detailed account of Allied activities on Gallipoli from 25 April to 12 August. McLennan writes not only of Australian forces but gives details of individual British officers, and the work of Indian, New Zealand, French and British troops, and Gurkha units, on Gallipoli.
