Collection relating to the First World War service of 69 Lieutenant Hector John MacLennan, 5 Battalion and 35 Battalion, Egypt and Gallipoli, 1915.
Wallet 1 of 1 - Contains one typescript copy of a diary written by Lieutenant MacLennan, dated from 8 April 1915 to 12 August 1915. Typescript copy made by Australian War Memorial. Location of original unknown.
History / Summary
This collection gives a very detailed account of Allied activities on Gallipoli from 25 April to 12 August. McLennan writes not only of Australian forces but gives details of individual British officers, and the work of Indian, New Zealand, French and British troops, and Gurkha units, on Gallipoli.
