Description
Collection relating to the First World War service of Captain John Collings Taswell Glossop. Collection consists of a copy of a personal diary maintained by Glossop, from July to December 1914. Although general in nature mainly recording ship board duties, there is passing mention of the campaign in German New Guinea, particularly Herbertshohe; convoy duties with the First Expeditionary Force; and a description of the naval battle off the Cocos Keeling Islands between the German SMS Emden and Australian HMAS Sydney on 9 November 1914.
