Description
Collection relating to the service of Major General Basil Moorhouse Morris, CBE, DSO. Collection consists of a photostat copy of a typescript copy of a diary kept by Morris between January 1916 and May 1919. Morris made short daily entries in the diary, mostly about his personal routine for the day.
History / Summary
Morris was a professional soldier before the outbreak of war in 1914. He attended Melbourne Church of England Grammar School and the University of Melbourne before joining the Melbourne Cavalry. He was commissioned in the Royal Australian Garrison Artillery on 1 December 1910 and served in coastal defence establishments.
