Description
Collection relating to the service of Lieutenant Wilfred Graham Salmon, 63 Training Squadron, Royal Flying Corps, England, 1917. Collection consists of a typed copy of a letter of condolence written by the commander of 63 Training Squadron, R. Stewart Maxwell (possibly Reginald Stuart Maxwell), to Lieutenant Salmon's mother in Ballarat. Copies made by Australian War Memorial. Location of originals unknown.
History / Summary
Biographical note: Lieutenant Wilfred Graham Salmon, Royal Air Force, of Ballarat, Victoria, born 1896, joined the AIF on 25 June 1915; served as a driver in the 4th Australian Field Artillery Brigade; transferred to the RAF in March 1917, and was killed in combat with German airmen over London in July 1917.
