Studio portrait of 3047 Lance Corporal William Forsyth, 5th Heavy Trench Mortar Battery, of Darlington NSW. A sailor in civilian life, and born in Liverton Scotland, he came to Australia aged thirty. He is wearing a militia uniform. He enlisted on 24 July 1915, having married the day before. Sergeant Forsyth died of wounds on 9 August 1918, aged thirty eight.
