Amid intense negotiations, National Army of Democratic Kampuchea (NADK -Khmer Rouge military) General Khieu Sophon warily eyes Army of National Khmer Independence (ANKI - royalist military) General Uoeung Bunthy at a meeting of the Mixed Military Working Group (MMWG), a high-level forum for all four Cambodian military factions and the UN's military contingent representatives. First meeting on 28 December 1991, usually at the old colonial French Protector's Residence in Phnom Penh, the MMWG had been formed by the United Nations Advance Mission in Cambodia (UNAMIC) and continued under the United Nations Transitional Authority in Cambodia (UNTAC).
