Description
A cart drawn by a zebu overtakes a broken down car on a battered stretch of road between Phnom Penh and the western provincial capital of Kompong Speu. The mostly unpaved Cambodian roads have suffered from years of negligible maintenance, mining, flooding and deliberate destruction (including frequent anti tank ditches dug by the Khmer Rouge), resulting in a poor surface that is further destabilised by large trucks. Often a journey of a few kilometres can take hours.
