Description

A detail of a map of Cambodia at the Tuol Sleng Museum of Genocidal Crime in Phnom Penh made entirely from over 200 skulls of the remains of prisoners exhumed from shallow graves found within the confines of Tuol Sleng Prison. Close inspection reveals cracks, fractures and bullet holes in some of the skulls - evidence of the brutal demise of the victims. Five metres square in size, this memorial has survived criticism and calls to finally lay these victims to rest. For an image of the complete map, see P03258.502.
