Description
View of the Dernancourt battlefield taken from Treux Wood. The Albert Amiens Road runs along the distant ridge. In the foreground, lie the heavy marshes of the Ancre. It was in this area that a decisive battle was fought by the 12th and 13th Australian Infantry Brigades on 5 April 1918, when the enemy vainly endeavoured to push through to Amiens. A similar image is held at E02204A. This is the left hand image in a two part panorama. See E02228P for the combined image.
