Description
View of the Dernancourt battlefield taken from Treux Wood. The Albert Amiens Road runs along the distant ridge and on the far right is the tower of Albert Church. In the foreground are the heavy marshes of the River Ancre. It was in this area that a decisive battle was fought by the 12th and 13th Australian Infantry Brigades on 5 April 1918, when the German forces vainly endeavoured to push through to Amiens. This is a digitally combined composite panorama made up of two separate images. It is only available as a digital print. The two images are also available separately at E02228A and E02228B.
