Description
Dawn on 4 July 1918, showing the Australian barrage falling on the village of Hamel, during the attack by the Australian and American troops. The blurred appearance is due to the smoke which hung over the valley for some hours after the smoke barrage, preceding the attack, opened at 3.10 am.
