Description
The area over which, on this day, the 4th Australian Infantry Brigade advanced in their attack and capture of the wood. The village of Hamel is on the left, behind the white chalk line of the German trench known as Pear Trench. This trench was a point where the German forces offered considerable resistance. This is the first image in a panorama consisting of four images. See E02833P for the combined image.
