Khaki fabric first aid pouch : Imperial Japanese Army
Description
Square khaki cotton fabric pouch with flap top. A leather tab closes the flap by fitting over a brass post. Japanese characters stencilled below the post read 'No 2 First Aid Pouch', but could also be interpreted as 'No 2 Ambulance Pouch'. A red cross is painted or stencilled on the top flap. On each side of the pouch, 20 - 30 mm below the opening, are hand stitched small lengths of khaki cotton tape. These may have formed the ends of a carrying strap which has been cut off.
