Keep mum, she's not so dumb!
This is an Australian version of a striking British poster. It features three servicemen of the British Army, Navy and Airforce standing near a languid femme fatale, who is reclining in a chair in the foreground. The woman is a classic fourties blonde bombshell, and the atmosphere, heightened by the slightly golden tonal values of the work, is one of conviviality and relaxtion. The servicemen are clearly relaxing, and are smoking and drinking. At the bottom of the poster, printed in black ink is the slogan 'Keep mum she's not so dumb!'. Beneath this, in orange ink, is the oft repeated phrase in British Second World War posters: 'Careless talk costs lives'. The poster warns against discussing military secrets around civilians. This Australian version lacks some of the colour variation of the original poster, and is less vibrant. The subtle tints of colour, which enlivened the faces on the original, are missing on this poster.
