Description

Printed cotton patriotic handkerchief. The cloth has a border of blue and red stripes with a king's crown in a circle at each corner and in the centre of each side. The words 'LADDIE IN KHAKI' with the subtitle in brackets '(THE GIRL WHO WAITS AT HOME)' and 'BY IVOR NOVELLO' are printed at the top of the cloth. The words and music to the song are printed in a decorative box underneath the title with the name and address of the publishers. On either side of the music is a circle containing the Union Jack. Behind these circles are flags of Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. Below the music are two large circles each containing a picture. The picture on the left shows a young woman sitting in her home thinking of a young soldier at war. The picture on the right depicts the soldier sitting in a field thinking of the young woman while his fellow soldiers fire an artillery gun in the background. The letter 'B' has been embroidered on the cloth on the top left hand corner in red thread.
