Presentation plaque : Wing Commander M L Baxter, WRAAF
Wooden plaque presented to L51800 Wing Commander Margaret Lynn Baxter on the occasion of her retirement from the RAAF and in appreciation of her 35 years of service. The plaque has a stained wood backing with a black plastic board mounted on top. The board has a gold border and lettering. At the top of the board is a RAAF eagle surmounted by a King's crown. Beneath them, in a scroll, is the motto 'Per Ardua Ad Astra' (through adversity to the stars). Underneath this, in gold lettering is 'PRESENTED TO WGCDR M.L. BAXTER MBE. ON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT FROM THE RAAF AND IN APPRECIATION OF HER 35 YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE'. The plaque is dated 'APRIL 1987'.
Presented to L51800 Wing Commander Margaret Lynn Baxter. Baxter was a clerk in the Navy Department at Fremantle before she joined the WRAAF in 1952. She was commissioned in 1955 and appointed Flight Officer on 1 January 1959. For the period between the late 1950s and mid 1960, she was officer-in-charge of the WRAAF at the Melbourne Telecommunications Unit. In September 1964 she was appointed officer-in-charge of WRAAF at Pearce, Western Australia. Baxter retired from the WRAAF in 1987 after 35 years of service.
