Description
Studio portrait of 4209 Private (Pte) John Albert Percival ("Percy") Hobbs, 14th Battalion, of Harrow, Vic. Pte Hobbs enlisted on 30 July 1915 and embarked aboard HMAT Demosthenes on 29 December 1915 with his brother, 4208 Pte Charles Reginald Hobbs. Both Hobbs brothers were taken Prisoner of War (POW) on 11 April 1917 at Riencourt during the battle at Bullecourt. Percy Hobbs was interned at Limberg POW camp, and was repatriated to England on 10 December 1918. Pte Hobbs returned to Australia with the 4th Machine Gun Battalion on 20 August 1919.
