Baker, Harry Clifford (Private)
Description
Letter (5 pp) written by SX9324 Private Harry Clifford Baker, (2 Reserve Motor Transport Company) to his friend, David Thomas Harris in the Royal Australian Navy. Dated 13 August 1941 the letter describes, with some good humour, Pte Harry Clifford Baker's voyage to Singapore and service experiences in Malaya. Contains detailed comments on the tropical climate, service life and recreation (including leave in Singapore). Pte Harry Clifford Baker was killed in action in Malaya on 13 February 1942. Also included with this letter are four items of correspondence relating to Sub Lieutenant David Thomas Harris (late husband of donor) and his service in Papua New Guinea in 1944.
