Description
White painted steel Wardens helmet with black painted 'W' at centre front and centre rear. Complete with rubber and vinyl interior liner with webbing chin strap and brass buckle.
History / Summary
Associated with Chief Air raid Warden Vincent Roland Exton who was the local Chief Warden with the National Emergency Service in the Ashfield area of Sydney. In 1944 Mr Extons' crew won this shield for being the best team that motivated and prepared local residents for possible air raids. Mr. Extons winning team is recorded on one of the small oval shaped plaques attached to relic REL29505.
