Collection relating to Thomas Charles Kelso
Description
Two Australian soldiers standing in front of a diesel or petrol powered Simplex, 40 horse power armoured locomotive tractor which was manufactured by the Motor Rail & Tramcar Company Limited in Bedford England. This was one of 20 such locomotives supplied to the Australian light railway companies on the Western Front during the First World War. Note the serial number LR2198. The soldier smoking (left) is possibly 566 Sapper Thomas Charles Kelso, of Albury, NSW, 1st Australian Light Railway Operating Company.
