Description
An unidentified engineer from one of the Australian Light Railway Operating Companies standing in a Baldwin, narrow gauge 4-6-0T steam locomotive, with the serial number 870 and the works number 44871 (not visible). It is stationary along a section of track somewhere on the Western Front. The hose coiled around the lamp at the rear of the locomotive is used to extract water for the boiler from streams or shell holes.
