Description
Papers of VFX64863 Gladys Lila Crawford who served with the Voluntary Aid Detachments (VAD) in the Middle East during the Second World War. The collection comprises correspondence with family members, 1940-1946, including letters describing her nursing duties with the 6th Australian General Hospital in Palestine in 1942. Crawford kept a diary with brief entries documenting her work at the 115 Australian General Hospital in Heidelberg, Victoria in 1941. Other records include a scrapbook containing newspaper clippings, railway passes, invitations and programs, service records including certificates of discharge, VAD menus and a war gratuity card.
