Description

Single breasted grey wool pinstriped suit jacket. The jacket has a fold down collar and a notched lapel with a buttonhole on the left side. The jacket has an angled breast pocket on the left side and two inset pockets at the waist. There are three small buttons at each cuff and two larger buttons below the lapel. The inside is lined with black polished cotton with striped cotton inside the sleeves. An inner pocket on the right side has a woven maker's label sewn over it. This label, in red, white and blue colours has the letters 'HJC' surmounted by a King's Crown above the latin motto 'SUMMA CUM LAUDE'.

History / Summary

This suit jacket was issued to Sergeant Lyndsay Hindmarsh Black on his demobilisation from the RAAF. Sgt Black enlisted in late 1941 and served in radar stations at Townsville and Corrumbin, Queensland.
