Informal portrait of Sister (Sr) Dorothy Jane Louise Newton, 1st Australian General Hospital, Australian Army Nursing Service, of Melbourne, Vic. Sr Newton enlisted on 3 April 1915. She was awarded the Associate of the Royal Red Cross 2nd Class on 1 January 1918 and returned to Australia on 5 February 1919 aboard HMAT Aeneas. Note the camouflage pattern painted on the wooden planks of the building behind her.
