Lend a hand on the land
Description
As the Second World War continued, with men required for military service, and the production of food becoming more and more critical to the war effort, the British Government introduced the 'lend a hand on the land' scheme in 1945. The scheme was targeted at city-dwellers to spend their holidays helping on farms in the country.
This poster depicts a clenched left fist, ready for work, with the right hand rolling up its sleeve set against a yellow background.
