Informal group portrait of five members of 3 Squadron RAAF standing under the propeller of a Tomahawk fighter aircraft, an early variant of the Kittyhawk. From left to right: 60452 Squadron Leader Peter G Jeffrey (commanding officer), 0376 Flight Lieutenant (Flt Lt) John R Perrin, 386 Flt Lt Alan C Rawlinson, 481 Pilot Officer (PO) Peter St. G Turnbull and 270530 Pilot Officer Edward H Jackson. PO Turnbull later commanded 76 Squadron RAAF and he was killed in action during the battle for Milne Bay on 27 August 1942. (This image is the preferred version to another copy held at 008198)
