Small sweetheart brooch showing a silver Australian Wireless Squadron symbol of a winged lightening bolt attached to an enamelled purple rectangle with a brooch fastening on the back.
History / Summary
Brooch associated with 17539 Sapper Murray Parkes, a printer's traveller from Sydney, NSW. Parkes enlisted on 6 December 1916 and served in Mesopotamia with 1 Australian Cavalry Divisional Signal Squadron and from 23 May 1918 with 1 Australian Wireless Squadron. He embarked for return to Australia on 22 July 1919 and was discharged from the AIF on 5 October 1919.
