Woven cloth patch 'Darkhorse' : US Navy SEALs
Description
Velcro backed triangular woven cloth patch featuring an image of a red and green Knight chesspiece on a black background. The word 'DARKHORSE' is embroidered in green cotton at the top.
History / Summary
Unit badges such as this were worn on the uniforms of US Navy SEAL (SEa-Air-Land) special forces teams working with RAN boarding parties on HMAS Kanimbla in the Persian Gulf during Operation 'Slipper'. The Velcro backing ensures easy removal and replacement, since no identifying badges were worn when on operations.
