Description
Photograph taken near Chiugnolles, an hour after the steep heights shown had been stormed and captured by the 3rd Australian Infantry Brigade. Froissy Beacon can be discovered on the edge of the chalk cliff in the distance. The 11th and 9th Battalions conspicuously figured in the operation, the 9th taking the ridge over Marly, while the 11th climbed the almost precipitous slope and together winning the plateau.
