Description
A view across no man's land from an outpost trench held by the 46th Battalion showing the shell damaged villages of Bellicourt (background, far left) and Nauroy (background, right). The building known as Cabaret Wood Farm, (background, centre), was very strongly defended and held out for several hours before the Australian troops finally took it on the afternoon of 29 September 1918. All the country in this image was in German control for nine days after the photograph was taken. This is a digitally combined composite panorama made up of two separate images. It is only available as a digital print. The two images are also available separately at E03347A and E03347B.
