Description
A bridge in course of construction by Australian Engineers across the Cologne River at Peronne. Built of rolled steel joists and timber salvaged from captured German dumps, it had a total span of 40 feet, four girders each of 20 feet by seven and a half inches being used in its construction. On its completion, on 8 October 1918, it was opened to all traffic except tanks, having been built to take a weight of 17 axle tons.
