Description
The Pozieres battlefield where the Australian troops were first engaged in a protracted battle on the Western Front. Between 23 July and 5 August 1916 Australians were involved in several major attacks, sustaining casualties of more than 12000. After the Armistice the stack of bricks in the background (right) were used by French civilians to rebuild their destroyed homes.
