Description

On the 5 February 1945 No. 464 Squadron RAAF moved from Dunsfold, Thorney Island, England to Rosieres-En-Santerre, France. Shows Squadron vehicles on the road during transfer period, RAF and RAAF personnel in England and France; duffle bag of Flight/Lieutenant (Flt/Lieut) Hammat (407193 Edwin Laurence Hammat) being loaded on to Squadron truck. Mosquito aircraft of No. 21 Squadron RAF on snow covered airfield. Mosquito aircraft from No. 464 Squadron RAAF and RAF Squadrons in flight and attacking German communications in a daylight raid. Members of No. 464 Squadron RAAF visited cemetery and Australian War Memorial at Villers Bretonneux while several Mosquito aircraft of No. 464 Squadron RAAF flew low overhead as a salute. Identified personnel are: 400839 Flt/Lieut Don Shanks, 409324 Flt/Lieut Knowle Shrimpton, Flt/Lieut Peter Lake, 414429 Flt/Lieut R.G. Rowell DFC, Flt/Lieut Hamilton, 400059 Pilot Officer (P/O) Jim Moon of Gundagai, New Zealanders Flt/Lieut Jack Dempsey & Sergeant Ted Page.
