German newsreel c late 1944. Commentary in German. Items covered: 1. Magicians perform for wounded soldiers and hospital staff. Otto Rodewald Ritterkreuz winner, had destroyed five Soviet tanks with a Panzerschreck (anti tank rocket launcher) but forgoes the sixth to work as an industrial draughtsman. 2. Reicharbeitdienst (Reich Labour Service) undergo military training. 3. Marinerkampfschwimmer, (navy divers) train to attack ships. 4. Eastern Front, a merchant ship convoy and heavy cruiser shelling Soviet forces on shore. 5. Western Front, downing of USAAF P-38 Lockheed Lightning by German anti aircraft batteries. On the fuselage of the P-38 is written 'Pilot Captain L E Aubrey, Crew Chief Schoenbeck, Assistant Christensen'. Also in this item German infantry, including a Panzerschreck section and Nebelwefer rocket artillery battery in action. 6. Winter fighting in the Vosges Mountains, France, includes scenes of a Sturmpanzer Brummbär assault gun in action.
