Report on Singapore surrender
Report on the Japanese surrender at Singapore 12 September 1945 by Brigadier J.D. Rogers Director of Military Intelligence AMF to General Sir Thomas Blamey. Brigadier Rogers was the official Australian representative at the surrender ceremony. Scenes include; Japanese cleaning the parade ground watched by Allied troops and civilians, General Slim, Air Chief Marsh, Sir Keith Clarke, Admiral Sir Arthur Power, Lord Louis Mountbatten inspecting the guard made up of men from the 5th Indian Division, Royal Navy, RAF and the Australian Parachute Battalion. General Seishiro Itagaki signed for Japan. Brigadier Rogers shows the Australian flag that hung in the hall during the ceremony and was latter autographed by Lord Louis Mountbatten. The flag was to be presented to the Australian War Memorial. Cinematography by the Film Unit of India Command, SEA Command and Netherlands Indies.
