Combat uniforms DPR/TV/771
Description
The Army today released its latest jungle green uniform for use in Vietnam, to a special press preview in Canberra. Both the old and the new designs were displayed to compare the differences. Lieutenant-Colonel H. F. Sabin, the Army's co-ordinator of combat clothing, used Vietnam veterans to model the uniforms. Lt Col Sabin, who has been closely associated with the development of the new uniform, told pressmen it was the result of ideas tested in Vietnam by the 5th Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment, during 1966 and modifications which have been made since then. The Minister for the Army, Mr Malcolm Fraser, arranged the Press briefing.
