On the third day of his tour, the Governor General visited the 9th Australian Division accompanied by General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1st Australian Corps, Lieutenant General Sir Leslie J Morshead KCB KBE CMG DSO ED and GOC 9 Australian Division, Major General G F Wootten CBE DSO. Also identified: Guard Commander SX9990 Major Hurtle Cummins Morphett MC, 2/48 Infantry Battalion; NX52268 Warrant Officer II Bernard John Tier, 2/3 Pioneer Battalion; NX14899 Sergeant (Sgt) G R Crawford DFC, 2/13 Australian Infantry Battalion; VX21849 Sgt Frederick Ronald Freeman MM, 2/12 Australian Field Regiment; NX70837 (N86001) Colonel Charles Ralph Hodgson.
