Rugby Union Duntroon Cup match, 1948
Description
On 9 May 1948, a team selected from various units of the Australian Occupation Force in Japan played a team drawn from the 2 New Zealand Expeditionary Force (NZEF). The Commander in Chief BCOF, 34 (VX20321, VX80578) Lieutenant General Horace Clement Hugh Robertson CBE DSO was among the spectators who watched the rugby union football game and presented the Cup to the winning NZ team. The game was postponed from 8 May, owing to poor weather. Final score - NZ 38 points, Australia 3 points. Also identified: Brigadier Potter, Commander 2 NZEF.
