Description
Gallipoli Peninsula, Turkey. 6 August 1915. About 4 p.m. men of the 3rd Battalion waiting to go into the trenches for the Anzac assault on Lone Pine. All wore white armlets and white square patches on their backs to distinguish them when darkness fell. Two hours after the locality (Brown's Dip) was being showered by enemy shrapnel.
