Description

Sergeant Willoughby Lloyd Williams enlisted to the Royal Australian Air Force on 5 July 1941. He trained as a wireless operator and air gunner in Canada and the United Kingdom under the Empire Air Training Scheme. Sergeant Williams then undertook operational training with 21 Operational Training Unit, based in the United Kingdom. On 8 May 1942, while participating in a night cross-country flight, Sergeant Williams died in an aircraft accident at Beckingham, Lincolnshire. He is buried at Thurlby (St. Germain) Churchyard, Lincolnshire, United Kingdom.
