Description

Lieutenant Douglas McDonald McQueen enlisted to the Second Australian Imperial Force on 8 July 1940, after previously serving with the Citizen Military Force. Lieutenant McQueen served with 2/29 Australian Infantry Battalion in Malaya. In February 1942, he was captured as a prisoner of war of the Japanese. Lieutenant McQueen worked on the Thai-Burma Railway as part of “F” Force. After the war, Lieutenant McQueen returned to Australia and was discharged on 7 January 1946.
