Ordinary Seaman Jim Berry
Description
Ordinary Seaman Berry enlisted in the Royal Australian Navy on 8 March 1941, at the age of 18, after serving in his local militia unit. On 4 March 1942, Ordinary Seaman Berry was serving on the transport ship HMS Anking, when it was intercepted by Japanese ships. The HMS Anking was sunk, and Ordinary Seaman Berry, alongside many others, was killed in action. He is commemorated at Plymouth Naval Memorial, Devon, United Kingdom.
