Private Clifford Haist
Description
Private Clifford Haist enlisted to the Second Australian Imperial Force on 12 June 1940. He was taken on strength to 2/12 Field Ambulance and trained in Darwin, Northern Territory, before embarking for overseas service in Timor. In February 1942, Private Haist was captured by the Japanese as a prisoner of war. He was interned in a prisoner of war camp in Thailand. Private Haist returned to Australia via Singapore in late 1945, and was discharged on 1 February 1946.
